  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 10 cups 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

This bloody red velvet popcorn is the ultimate spooky snack for Halloween nights. Crunchy popcorn is coated with a sweet red velvet glaze and drizzled with white chocolate for a creepy, delicious party treat.

Ingredients

Scale

10 cups plain popped popcorn (air-popped or lightly salted)

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup cocoa powder

1/2 cup buttermilk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon red gel food coloring

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup white chocolate chips (for drizzle)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Pop the popcorn and spread it out on the prepared baking sheet.

3. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add sugar, cocoa powder, and buttermilk. Stir until smooth.

4. Bring to a gentle boil and cook for 3–4 minutes.

5. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract, red food coloring, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.

6. Quickly pour the red velvet coating over the popcorn and toss to coat evenly.

7. Bake for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to ensure even coating.

8. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.

9. Melt white chocolate chips and drizzle over the popcorn for a spooky “bloody” effect.

10. Allow to set, then break into clusters and serve.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Use gel food coloring for a vibrant red effect—liquid coloring may dilute the glaze.
