2. Melt semi-sweet chocolate in 20–30 second microwave bursts or using a double boiler until smooth.
3. Spread melted chocolate evenly to about 1/4-inch thickness and chill for 10–15 minutes.
4. Melt white chocolate, stir in peppermint extract, and pour over firm dark chocolate layer.
5. Swirl layers gently with a toothpick or skewer if desired.
6. Sprinkle crushed candy canes and optional toppings over the top and press lightly.
7. Chill in refrigerator for 30–45 minutes or freezer for 15 minutes until fully set.
