Cheeseburger Skulls on Spooky Buns

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 6 cheeseburger skulls 1x

Description

Juicy cheeseburger patties shaped in a skull pan, stuffed with melty cheese, and tucked into festive Halloween buns for a fun and spooky party main dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lb (900 g) ground beef, 80/20
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 6 one-inch cheese cubes (cheddar, mozzarella, or pepper jack)
  • Nonstick cooking spray or oil, for the pan
  • 6 Halloween buns (black, orange, or sesame)
  • Lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles (optional)
  • Ketchup, mustard, or burger sauce (optional)

  • Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a skull-shaped baking pan with nonstick spray or oil.

    2. In a bowl, gently mix ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika until just combined.

    3. Divide the meat into 6 equal portions. For each skull, press about half a portion into the cavity to line the bottom and sides.

    4. Place a cheese cube in the center, then cover with the remaining meat. Press and seal edges so the cheese is fully enclosed.

    5. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

    6. Let rest 5 minutes, then carefully unmold the cheeseburger skulls.

    7. Optional: Pan-sear skulls 1–2 minutes per side for a crispy crust.

    8. Slice and lightly toast the Halloween buns.

    9. Assemble each bun with a cheeseburger skull and desired toppings and sauces.

    10. Serve immediately while hot and melty.
