4. Sprinkle flour over vegetables and stir constantly for 1 minute to form a roux.
5. Gradually whisk in chicken broth to dissolve the flour.
6. Add wild rice, thyme, and bay leaf; bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer.
7. Cover and cook 35–45 minutes until rice is tender, stirring occasionally.
8. Stir in shredded chicken and heavy cream; simmer uncovered for 10 minutes.
