Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, washed and thoroughly dried
  • 12 ounces white chocolate melting wafers or good quality white chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or dark chocolate melting wafers
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for thinning chocolate)
  • Pink food coloring gel (optional, for pink ears)
  • Small edible candy eyes
  • Pink or red sprinkle hearts (for noses)
  • Black edible food marker (optional, for whiskers)

  • Instructions

    1. Prepare Your Strawberries: Start by thoroughly washing your strawberries. After washing, lay them out on a clean kitchen towel or paper towels and let them air dry completely, or gently pat them dry. Any water on the strawberries will cause your chocolate to seize, so ensure they are bone dry.

    2. Melt the White Chocolate: Place your white chocolate melting wafers or chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted. If using white chocolate chips and the chocolate seems too thick, stir in 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil at a time until it reaches a smooth, dippable consistency.

    3. Dip the Bunny Heads: Hold each strawberry by its green stem (the “ears”). Dip about two-thirds of the strawberry into the melted white chocolate, leaving the green cap exposed. Gently tap off any excess chocolate against the side of the bowl. Place the dipped strawberries on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Repeat with all strawberries.

    4. Create the Bunny Faces: While the white chocolate is still wet, carefully place two edible candy eyes onto the front of each strawberry. Then, place one pink or red sprinkle heart just below the eyes for the nose. If you want pink inner ears, you can dip a toothpick into pink food coloring gel and carefully dab a small amount onto the white chocolate near the green stem, or even directly onto the green stem itself.

    5. Chill to Set: Once all your strawberries are decorated with eyes and noses, place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes to allow the white chocolate to fully set. This will make it easier to add the whiskers and mouths.

    6. Add Chocolate Details (Optional): While the strawberries are chilling, melt your semi-sweet chocolate chips or dark chocolate melting wafers in a separate small microwave-safe bowl, following the same 30-second interval method. Once melted, transfer the chocolate to a small piping bag with a very tiny snip at the end, or a Ziploc bag with a corner snipped off. Once the white chocolate on the strawberries is completely firm, pipe on small “V” shapes for mouths and three small lines on each side of the nose for whiskers. Alternatively, use a black edible food marker for the whiskers.
