Description

  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • salt to taste

  • Instructions

    1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C)

    2. Cook the macaroni in salted boiling water until just under al dente, drain and set aside

    3. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat, whisk in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes

    4. Gradually whisk in milk and cook until the sauce thickens, about 5–7 minutes

    5. Remove from heat and stir in cheddar, mozzarella, half of the parmesan, salt, pepper, and paprika until smooth

    6. Fold the drained macaroni into the cheese sauce until evenly coated

    7. Mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and the remaining parmesan in a bowl

    8. Transfer the macaroni mixture to a greased casserole dish and sprinkle the breadcrumb topping evenly over the surface

    9. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden, then broil for 1–2 minutes for extra crispiness

    10. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving
