  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (or low-sodium)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp brown sugar or honey (optional)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Cooked rice or noodles for serving (optional)

  • Instructions

    1. Toss sliced beef with 1 tbsp soy sauce and cornstarch; set aside.

    2. Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.

    3. Stir-fry beef until browned, about 4–5 minutes; remove and set aside.

    4. Add remaining oil, garlic, and ginger; cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.

    5. Add broccoli and 2 tbsp beef broth; cover and steam 3–4 minutes until crisp-tender.

    6. Whisk remaining soy sauce, broth, and brown sugar; pour into pan and bring to a simmer.

    7. Return beef to the pan; toss to coat and thicken sauce, about 2 minutes.

    8. Drizzle with sesame oil and serve immediately over rice or noodles.
