1. Preheat the oven to 375 F (190 C) and place a rack in the center.
2. Thaw the puff pastry according to package instructions and roll it out on a lightly floured surface.
3. Cut the pastry into 24 squares about 2 inches wide and press each into a mini muffin tin.
4. Cut the brie into small cubes and place one cube into each pastry cup.
5. Spoon about half a teaspoon of cranberry sauce over each piece of brie.
6. Brush the exposed pastry edges with beaten egg for a golden finish.
7. Bake until the pastry is puffed and golden and the brie is melted, about 15 to 18 minutes.
8. Let the bites cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring to a rack.
9. Serve warm, optionally garnished with chopped walnuts or fresh herbs.
10. Reheat leftovers in a 350 F oven for 8 to 10 minutes to restore crispness.
