Fun Spider Burger and Halloween Fries (Kid-Friendly)

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A playful spider-themed cheeseburger with fry “legs” and colorful dips. Easy, festive, and adaptable for toddlers or vegetarians—perfect for a Halloween family dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20) or ground turkey
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 4 slices cheddar or American cheese
  • 4 burger buns, soft
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 tomato slices (optional)
  • 812 pickle slices (optional)
  • 1 lb frozen fries or 23 potatoes, cut into fries
  • 12 tbsp oil (for fries, if using fresh potatoes)
  • Ketchup and mustard, for serving and decorating
  • 8 olive slices or 8 candy eyes for “eyes”
  • 4 store-bought veggie patties (optional swap)

  • Instructions

    1. Bake fries: Heat oven to 425°F (220°C). Toss fries with oil and a pinch of salt, spread on a lined sheet, and bake 20–25 minutes, turning once.

    2. Form patties: Divide meat into 4 equal balls; flatten to 4-inch patties. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

    3. Cook patties: Heat a skillet over medium-high. Cook 4–5 minutes per side until done (165°F for turkey).

    4. Melt cheese: Top each patty with a cheese slice in the last minute; cover to melt.

    5. Toast buns: Lightly toast cut sides in the skillet or oven for 1–2 minutes.

    6. Assemble: Bottom bun + lettuce + tomato (optional) + patty. Cap with top bun.

    7. Create spider legs: Slide 3–4 fries into each side of the bun so they stick out like legs.

    8. Add the face: Dab ketchup or mustard to glue on olive slices or candy eyes. Draw a small mouth if you like.

    9. Serve: Plate with remaining fries and dips (ketchup, mustard, guacamole, or sour cream).

    10. For toddlers: Use soft buns, cut fries shorter and tender, skip toothpicks, and slice the burger into small wedges.
