Instructions
1. combine flour baking soda salt and spices in a bowl and whisk to blend
2. cream butter brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy
3. add egg molasses and vanilla extract and mix until smooth
4. gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and stir until a soft dough forms
5. wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes
6. preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper
7. roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface and cut with cookie cutters
8. place cookies on baking sheets leaving space to spread
9. bake for 8 to 10 minutes until edges are lightly golden
10. cool cookies on baking sheets for 2 minutes then transfer to wire racks to cool completely
