Ingredients

  • Fresh apple cider: 8 oz (240 ml)
  • Blackberry puree or juice: 2 oz (60 ml)
  • Dark rum or whiskey: 3 oz (90 ml)
  • Fresh lemon juice: 1 oz (30 ml)
  • Tonic water or club soda: ~4 oz (120 ml), to top
  • Simple syrup (optional): up to 0.5 oz (15 ml), to taste
  • Fresh blackberries: 6–8 berries, for garnish
  • Apple slices or cinnamon sticks: for garnish
  • Ice: as needed

  • Instructions

    1. Divide the blackberry puree between two chilled glasses and fill each with ice.

    2. In a shaker, combine apple cider, rum or whiskey, lemon juice, and optional simple syrup; shake with ice for 10 seconds.

    3. Slowly strain over the back of a bar spoon into each glass to keep layers distinct.

    4. Top each drink with tonic water or club soda and gently stir once to swirl.

    5. Garnish with blackberry skewers and an apple slice or cinnamon stick; serve immediately.
