A festive burger-and-fries centerpiece styled like a spider, complete with fry or pretzel legs and olive-cheese eyes—perfect for Halloween parties and family-friendly fun.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20) or plant-based alternative
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices cheddar or American cheese
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Red onion rings
  • 2 medium russet potatoes (or 12 oz frozen shoestring fries)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika, divided
  • 1 tsp garlic powder, divided
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise
  • 812 pretzel sticks or thin breadsticks (optional, for legs)
  • 8 olive slices + 4 mini mozzarella balls or cheese cubes (for eyes)
  • Fresh parsley or extra lettuce for garnish

  • Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet.

    2. Cut potatoes into thin sticks; toss with olive oil, 1/2 tsp paprika, salt, and pepper.

    3. Bake fries 20–25 minutes, tossing once, until golden and crisp; keep warm.

    4. Season beef with 1/2 tsp paprika, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, salt, and pepper; form 4 patties slightly wider than buns.

    5. Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high; cook patties 3–4 minutes per side to desired doneness.

    6. Top each patty with a cheese slice in the last minute to melt.

    7. Lightly toast buns; spread with ketchup, mustard, and/or mayonnaise.

    8. Assemble burgers: bun bottom, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheesy patty, then bun top.

    9. Place each burger on a wooden cutting board; fan 4 fries (or pretzels) per side as spider legs.

    10. Make eyes: secure olive slices onto mini mozzarella or cheese cubes with toothpicks; fix on the top bun.

    11. Garnish board with parsley or extra lettuce; pile remaining fries around the burger.

    12. Serve immediately while fries are crisp and cheese is melty.
