A dark Spooky Pie surrounded by Gothic Food styled for a Halloween tea party table.

Classic Dark Berry Spooky Pie

  • Total Time: 1 hour
  • Yield: 6-8 servings 1x

Description

A hauntingly beautiful dark berry pie featuring blackberries, blueberries, and cherries in a deep-hued crust—perfect for elevating any Halloween tea party or gothic-inspired gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups blackberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 cup pitted cherries
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 premade pie crust (tinted black with black cocoa powder or food coloring)
  • Optional: edible glitter or activated charcoal for garnish

  • Instructions

    1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

    2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine blackberries, blueberries, cherries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Stir and simmer until the mixture thickens and becomes jewel-like.

    3. Roll out the black-tinted pie dough on a lightly floured surface and place the bottom crust into a 9-inch pie pan.

    4. Pour the berry filling into the crust, spreading it evenly.

    5. Create a spooky top crust design: cut bat shapes, weave a spiderweb lattice, or use themed pastry cutters.

    6. Carefully place the decorative top crust over the filling and seal the edges.

    7. Bake the pie for 35–40 minutes, until the crust is firm and the filling bubbles through the lattice.

    8. Allow the pie to cool slightly before dusting with edible glitter or activated charcoal for an extra eerie effect.

    9. Serve warm or at room temperature as the centerpiece of your Halloween tea party.
